No iPhone 5 today, 4S will be here October 14

October 4th, 2011

The highly anticipated Apple press conference just wrapped up. The big announcement was the iPhone 4S, it will have many of the features that were already rumored. Items such as the new A5 Processor will of course be included. Coming to a store near you on October 14th.

This new phone will of course be running the new iOS 5, with it’s over 200 new features. iOS5 will be available to everyone with a current generation iOS device on October 12th. iCloud does what you expect it to do, it stores your music, documents etc, in the cloud. It can automatically update your other iOS devices with this content so you always have the current version with you regardless of what iOS device you happen to want to use.

Siri is new, voice activated fuzzy logic, Apple calls it a Voice Assistant. This is going to be on the iPhone 4S. Talk, ask questions it answers and even makes schedules for you. It is location aware so if you say, “remind me to get the iPad when I get home” a reminder is placed and pops up when you get home. This is really cool until it become self-aware.. then well, we better hope the terminator can come back in time to save us. Apple has not announced time travel … yet, that little gem we are just going to have to wait for the same as the iPhone 5.

If you want the specs and such, just go the Apple website, I’m sure they will all be posted there this afternoon. They are probably posting this information right now as I can’t even get www.apple.com to load at this moment.

iOS5

June 7th, 2011

The iPhone is now over 4 years old, the iPad into its second year. The new iOS 5 has many new features, some we have seen in other mobile operation systems. Highlights include:

The Notification Center: quick access to email, messages and more

iMessage: improved

Newstand, get more digital newspapers than you possible ever read

Reminders: stay on top of all those to-do lists with ease

Twitter Integration: this one is a little scary; but for those that tweet about every move … you will love this update

The ability to setup WITHOUT a desktop computer is finally here, so is a vast improvement of how to get at the camera app, finally the camera button is right there and you can access the camera from the locked screen.

I knew there was a reason I was waiting for the iPhone 5, oh wait that has not been announced … yet, this was just about the iOS 5, for the iPad, iPad2, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and latest generation iPods.

QUERTY came later

We are back after a long hiatus!

We have changed hands, it used to be Sean & Dave. Now it’s just Dave, unless Sean changes his mind and wants to come back. I need to buy him a beer and convince him to come back.

In honor of Pi Day, the site is officially launched! Even if the site is a canned at the moment. This, like all things is going to change. Stay tuned for site updates, geek news and more!
