The name CityTime sounds like a program that might tell you time in different cities throughout the word. If you guessed that this is what this program can do, you would be right. However this program does a whole lot more that just display the time in multiple cities. CityTime has been around for years for the PalmOS platform, this review is for PocketPC version of this well developed application. With this new version 1.6 it now has a display for the Today Screen. This display shows the time for two to six cities that can choose. It also is a fast way to launch the program by tapping on the world icon. From the main screen you will see four cities times, and a the world map. The world map shows where day night are. Tap the map and the closest city will highlight with the current time.
One feature that I really like is the Sun/Moon screens. These screens show the sunrise and sunset times and daylight hours for the location you select. You can display these times in Official, Civil, Nautical or Astronomical values. It is easy to scroll a day ahead or behind or even pick any day with the drop down calendar. The Moon Rise, Set and Phase screen lets you know the time the Moon is rising and setting as well as how long the moons is visible for and the phase of the moon. For more information on the phases of the moon see the web site by the US Naval Observatory, Astronomical Applications Department
From the Flight Appointment screen you can enter when your flight leaves and when it will land. You can choose to have your organizer on the visiting cities time, this will change your appointments and most other applications that use the internal clock. All the Airport and Dialing Codes for the various listed cities are entered. This can be handy just to lookup where someone is if all you have is a phone number. There are several cities prelisted to make life easy for you. If however the city you want listed is not one of the preset ones, you have the option of adding it yourself. To do this accurately you will need to the latitude and longitude, knowing the Timezone, Country, Airport Code and Area Code(s) would also be helpful. All of this information can be obtained very easily on the internet.
