CodeWallet Pro is a secure data storage place for all kinds of data you might want secure. With all the computer logins, passwords and combinations we need to remember these days a secure wallet is almost a must. It is not recommended that anyone use the same password for different web sites. If a dishonest webmaster or someone were to hack the site they would have this information. If you had used the same password elsewhere, well, I think you get the idea.

Code Wallet Pro comes preinstalled with the new HP Jornada 560 series handheld. This is only the handheld version, so you will not be able to synchronize your data to the PC, without the additional desktop application.

Organizing your data is very easy. First off there are 43 different card types to choose from. You can choose one of the recommended category names or choose your own. Choose a default Icon and then start entering your data. There is a lot of room to enter data, the suggested information is very complete. I doubt you will need to enter it all, but better to much than not enough room to enter this data. You also have a blank page to enter notes if the prompted information is not enough. You then can change the options of the card; Icon, background color, text color, bold data or zoom control are some of the options. You can also insert an image and position it where you like or even tile the image. You can also insert a sound. These images or sound files can be any image or sound on your device the software shows them all. With all this you can even create custom forms.

Cards, Text, Memos, Instructions, there are several types of entries you can have. Categorized them how you like, under a separate heading or however you would like. If you enter a web site address into a URL heading the URL becomes a link, this works on both the handheld and desktop versions.

The security of 128Bit data encryption is nice. You have the option to have some entries not encrypted or password protected if you like. This would be good for things such as instructions or directions. Of course entries like credit card numbers or login passwords should be encrypted, but this is course your choice.

Categories and Cards

Now that you have all this information secure on your Pocket PC, it sure would be nice to have it all available on your desktop or notebook PC as well. CodeWallet Pro Desktop Edition is what you will want.

For a couple of weeks I was testing this software using the default sample wallet file. When I used this file the program would stall every time I pressed OK. This delay was getting to be quite annoying as it would take up to 10 seconds to register the press. After emailing technical support, they suggested that I make sure that the wallet file was in main memory not compact flash or hp safe store memory. I ensured that the file was indeed in main memory, but the delay when pressing OK was still there. Out of frustration I created a new file and this problem seemed to disappear! I still do not know why this delay was happening.  Because of this inconsistency CodeWallet Pro received 4/5 instead of 5/5.

Final Words:
A good program to store all your important data and passwords is a must these days. CodeWallet Pro is secure as it uses 128Bit data encryption, it's also very easy to use. Note that category names are NOT encrypted.
