Pros
extremely powerful DOC editor
easy to use
more features than you shake a stick at
Cons
large size (480K)

Wordsmith is a very powerful DOC editor. It is the most feature rich word processor for the PalmOS available. Wordsmith not only edits DOC files but can also be used as a replacement for the built in Memopad application.  Of course if it can edit DOC files, it can also read them. The eBook reader features such as full screen, auto scrolling and teleprompter are top notch. It even has what I will call a  safety feature, it will prompt you to "take a break" to rest your eyes.

As you would expect from any word processor it can cut, copy, paste, have multiple fonts and colours with bold, underline and italics. Multiple formatting options are available. Thing like page breaks, indenting for paragraphs and line spacing are what set this word processor apart from the rest. It has one of my favorite features, word count, built in as well.

The "go to" features are very handy if you have not yet created a bookmark in every place you might want to find quickly. With the "go to" feature you can go to a paragraph or % down the document with ease. You don't even need to know what the paragraph number is, as it displays the first few words for you.

Printing is also an option if you would like to do so. Wordsmith supports both Instep Print and PrintBoy for printing via the IR port from your handheld. Then again because it syncs with the desktop you could easily open the file in word then print, or if you would like to get fancy just open the WordSmith desktop application and if you right click on the file, you have the option to print directly. What this seems to do is open the file in Word then print and then close Word. This is all done very quickly if you have a fast machine and blink you might miss it!

Final Words:
Why did I not look this application more closely before! This amazingly powerful yet simple to use application is three programs in one. WordSmith stands out in a what is becoming a crowded world of DOC editors. If this the result of the crowding, bring 'em on! There are just too many features in WordSmith to list in this review. To give you an idea the manual is over 60 pages long. This is not to say that WordSmith is complicated, it is quite the opposite. If it has been a while since you looked a DOC editor or maybe this is even the first time, give WordSmith a try you will be pleasantly surprised!
