YAPS is another very easy to use program. Having your all your passwords stored in one place could present a problem, if anyone else was to find them. Encrypting the data is one way that makes this less of a problem. Yaps uses a 256-bit encryption method based on a Blowfish algorithm. This is very secure, even for short passwords. There are six fields you fill in, Name, Location, User ID, Password, Info and Note. The Password and Info field are always encrypted, the User ID and Location can also be encrypted from the options menu. Any field that is not encrypted can be searched with the find option on the handheld device, and therefore any field that is encrypted can not be searched. Each entry can also be hidden by the handheld's built in hide feature as well, you can also mask entry's if you have OS 3.5 or higher. A nice feature is that you don't have the leave YAPS to show these hidden records, you can access this from the option menu inside YAPS itself. This adds one more level of security for those really important passwords. The login password is case sensitive adding a level of security. Being able to duplicate, import and export entry's is also a nice feature. The duplication will save time when you are entering similar password locations, such a Login ID's for the Internet. The import and export feature uses the standard comma separated format (CSV). This is saved as a memo so you can import your data into another program, such as a spreadsheet or database on your desktop. This in turn can be printed or archived in a secure place. Just be sure to delete these after are you done. They are not secure once in a memo format, anyone could just read the memo and have access to those passwords! Sorting all the passwords into categories is always a nice idea, this can be done the same as sorting all your memo's, the look and layout are the same as memo pad.
This application is free, you can use for 10 days and after that the author requests you get a registration code from the web site. This is also free. So the program is entirely free not quite freeware but free. The only real drawback I could find was, it has one main password. This is the whole idea I know, but having a double lock sometimes would be nice. Final Words:
